The Year of the Rooster

Welcome the Year of the Rooster — Try Acupuncture to Relieve Stress!

I was planning to write an article to celebrate the Lunar New Year and to welcome the Year of the Rooster. Instead, what I think people need is a way to deal with stress related to current events. Acupuncture is a great way to keep this roller coaster of emotions in balance. In Chinese medicine, we talk about the five elements: metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. Each of those elements is associated with an emotion. When that particular element is out of balance, your emotions may easily become out of balance too. The emotions — grief, fear, anger, joy (or lack of joy), and worry — are a lot like the emotions that many people have been experiencing recently. These emotions are also each associated with a different organs — lungs, kidney, liver, heart, and spleen — and can impact the function of these organs. Acupuncture points on the meridians that correlate to each of those organs are treated to bring balance back to the system. Lying on the table with acupuncture needles can be a super relaxing experience and is a great way to recharge.
